***2010 Vintage***
Bought this directly at the brewpub in the summer of 2010. Billed as a strong ale with maple syrup.
Poured from a 500ml. bottle, lot 10030010.
Appearance: Pours a semi-hazy chestnut colored body with a generous head that disappears in about a minute though it does coat a little the sides of the glass.
Smell: Citrus(?), metallic a little with some sugar and maple.
Taste: Whoa! Major concentrated sugar makes this hard to swallow. Sweetness is unbalanced. Maple is there as it warms. Some residual bitterness in the end. Gets a bit better as it warms but the initial abrasiveness turned me off.
Mouthfeel: Disjointed a bit. Carbonation is ok but the body is a bit rough then turns thin as it warms.
Overall: Not likely to try this again. An incoherent mess that gets slightly better and though there are glimmers of potential, it falls too short. I had troubles finishing my half as did my wife.
