Poured from a 12oz bottle into a stemmed glass, showing a dark and cloudy brew with the look of a BarleyWine and almost no head to speak of. Smells of spicy raisin and alcohol with just a hint of wood, taste is spice up front with bourbon and barrel wood standing tall in the mix. Mouthfeel is smooth and very much like a BarleyWine, even how it settles on the tongue. Overall I feel it to be a very fine effort by Empyrean Brewing Company on this one, I would love to see this in a 22oz bottle for special occasions....8% ABV on the bottle differs from the above listed review but that really means nothing seeing this is a nice local brew with some damn good flavor...

Sampling right now on 2/27/14. Bought a 4-pack today for $10.99. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a pint glass.
Pours a hazy dark brown, like ice tea with almost a finger of a thick off-white head. A good amount of lacing is seen after each sip that sticks to the sides of the glass. The aroma is spices along with a 'bourbon barrel' that really comes through. The taste is about the same with the bourbon taste coming through followed up by some spice. Just a very mild bitterness for the aftertaste. Overall, it was good.
