Split Stave is a bourbon-barrel-aged Weizenbock flavored with cacao, then blended with a strong Vanilla Cream Ale we brewed with pineapple and cherries. This ice-cream-themed treat is meant to be enjoyed year-round. No spoon required

Poured into a Nonic.
Pours dark amber and a bit cloudy with limited head and lacing. Kind of "dishwater" to look at.
Aromas of banana, cherry and pineapple. But sort of artificial in a way.
The flavor is remarkably "banana split" in spades. Malty caramel malt up front. Banana esters from the base weizenbock meld with the cacao and cherry/pineapple/vanilla cream ale blend. The barrels are modest but present--oak and a bit of bourbon, tobacco, and vanilla on the finish. The flavor is the redeemer on this one.
The brew is nearly cloying and sticky, but doesn't quite get there, which is a good thing. It's not repeatable, and a pint is too much for me.
An interesting brew. There is just too much going on here. It's not a mess, and it's worth trying for the novelty, but not a repeat for me.
