Empyrean Barrel Sled BBA Imperial Coconut Stout, 8.5% ABV. Pours black with a four-finger beige head that left great lacing. Aroma is roast malt, slight chocolate, and coconut. Taste follows, faintly sweet, moderately bitter. Decent mouthfeel, overall very good.

I picked up this brew months ago, and it has been in the beer fridge since winter. From a sixteen ounce aluminum can, this beer is absolutely dark, nearly black, with a tan colored head. Small bubbles and soapy. The aroma has a nice toasted coconut aroma, along with some chocolate and coffee. The taste isn’t as sweet as the smell…well balanced. It is full in body, drinkable, and quite flavorful. Roasted flavors, a both of warmth, thick body, and the coconut adds a rewarding touch.
