Maybe I am just a fan of pale ale, but this is pretty good beer. Actually, this is the best beer brewed in Roanoke, VA, which is also home to Roanoke Railhouse.

It pours in a nice copper color, and has just the right amount of head for a pale ale. The overall appearance is nice and crisp.

The smell is a little on the citrus side, and just the right amount of hops come through--this isn't overpowering which no pale ale should ever be, in my book.

The taste is great: a typical pale ale taste and super fresh since they brew in on site. I find that it pairs really well with food, better than most beers because the flavors are not too complex, and are not at all out of place. Everything about this beer compliments the beer.

Overall, this is a really balanced brew. This stuff has been around for awhile, even prior to the trendiness of the craft beer craze in my area, and is better than most of the craft beer I have had. It is also dirt cheap since you just go into the bar and ask them to fill your growler for you.

I had a chance to try the Virginia Creeper during a recent visit to Roanoke, VA. The beer poured a clear copper color with a white head that laced nicely. The scent included floral with hints of citrus. The taste is just like the smell...floral with some bitter citrus. The mouthfeel was ok, light to medium body with slight carbonation. Overall is was a decent beer worth trying.

I did the Sample Pack of the 5 normal beers they have on Tap.. They normally have 6 all the time on Tap beers... 1 was out so they gave me the Seasonal in place of it...

Each sample was 3 or 4 oz.... So this will be a quick review.

A: Copper in color, a little darker than I've seen... also a little on cloudy side for a APA... looks a little unfiltered but I'm OK with that...

S: Floral Hops right up front

T: Just like the smell Hops & more hops with a nice bitterness.... Nice for the style, not outstanding

M: Mid bodied..with a smoothness to it....

D: It is hard to tell with only 3 or 4 oz... But I might order this one to try a little more.

Over all not a bad brew but not best APA I've ever had...
