3 Feb 2013: Super Bowl, draught pint into a plastic cup in 'Jacks bar in the Cannery', San Fransisco.

Wasn't expecting something so English in San Fran, really enjoyed it though.

Amber body with an off-white head of bubbles.

Malts just about out sniff the hop content in the nose and the taste, subtle more than strong and forceful. Malts certainly first, with grains and a floral hop feel coming along behind.

Nice easy balance, drank in between a Moose Drool and a Black Bute Porter, calmed down my taste buds well.

Had a chance to try the Hop Dog IPA at Awfule Arthurs in Roanoke. The beer poured slightly hazy copper with a thin off white head that laced. The smell was more floral than pine/citrus....thanks to the East Kent Goldings. Some sweet and earthy undertones as well. The taste was very bitter with floral ever present and a slight hint of citrus. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with big hop bitterness. Overall it is an ok IPA....a bit to bitter and floral for me!

A-Slightly hazed golden copper with a thin off white head that reduced a bit and left decent lace.

S-Mildly sweet caramel, and the distinctive aroma of EKG hops with floral and earthy notes coming out.

T-More assertive bitterness on the palate with a touch of citrus behind the floral and earthy notes. Well supported by the sweet caramel and biscuit malt

M-Medium bodied fairly sharp and crisp with good lingering hop bitterness.

D-A surprisingly solid 100% EKG hopped English style IPA. Decent hop profile and good crispness make this one easy to drink.

I did the Sample Pack of the 5 normal beers they have on Tap.. They normally have 6 all the time on Tap beers... 1 was out so they gave me the Seasonal in place of it...

Each sample was 3 or 4 oz.... So this will be a quick review.

A: Auburn in color, another unfiltered looking brew...Nice little head on this one.

S: Very strong Hops smell on this one.... Pretty much over powers everything else...

T: Just like it smell, Hops, Hops & more Hops with a strong bitterness to it. I'm not much on this style but if you like hops you'll love this one.

M: Mid bodied..with some bite...

D: It is hard to tell with only 3 or 4 oz... This is not my style so I'm one and done on this one...

Give it a try... Support your locale Brewers
