Had on tap at the brewery. The brewery's website says the grain bill includes "pils, 2-row, spelt, crystal malts, oats, and rye to name a few."
A - Crystal clear. Deep brown color like a porter. Shows ruby highlights when held up to light. Head so wispy it is almost not there. Off-white, tiny ring around the glass is it.
S - Interesting grainy aroma. Some molasses and brown sugar; a little roastiness. No hops in the nose.
T - Flavors are a bit odd. Lots of grain. Med hops bitterness but not much hops flavor. Some spice that may be from the rye. Off note in background that I can't identify.
M - Low carbonation. Thin body. Dry finish.
O - Beautiful color and some interesting aromas are on the plus side. Thin body and an off flavor detract for me. Not my ideal brown ale.
