Coffee Torpor

i believe this was called cafe torpor on the menu when we were in, but i assume its the same, their delicious porter with some coffee in the mix. its a basic porter, i didnt try it without the coffee, but i can imagine it seeming like something is missing without it, it just integrates so well and is so aromatic and fresh in it, it really kind of becomes the identity of this. the base porter has nice roast, moderate bitterness, and just a little less body than i think would make it ideal, but its definitely a pint beer, and thats cool for a dark one. the coffee has subtle hints of hazelnut and milk chocolate to me, less bitter than the grain it seems, a touch of caramel sweetness, but its all very balanced and resolved in the finish. not overly complex on the whole, but the nuance of the coffee can be appreciated. likely done with cold brew blended in, or with the coffee added post fermentation when its cold, as there is no acidity from it here at all. nice brew, i could drink this all day long.
