The beer hits of sweet burnt toffee, full roastiness, coffee bitterness, a hint of dried fruit, onto a cocoa finish along with more roasted bitterness at the finish.

Poured on tap, dark as night. Minimal head. Taste chocolate and roasted malt. Very clean flavor, hides its abv very well. I love the way this beer feels in my mouth. Now I know why everyone in SA goes batshit over this beer

Freetail Brewing Co. "La Muerta '15"
$7 snifter at the brewery on 1 November 2015
Notes: Imperial stout. 50 IBU. Black/tan appearance with very good head retention and lacing. Aroma expresses dark malt and oily medium-roast coffee beans. The flavor is fuller with bittersweet chocolate, sweeter dark chocolate/fudge, background fruit, and grassy hops. The bitterness does not seem to hit 50 because of all the malt but the alcohol comes forward just enough to help balance it.

On tap at Jester King.
A- Resembles drip coffee. Oily, graham cracker head. Pitch-black body . 4.5
S- Licorice, molasses, woodiness, vanilla. Not incredibly complex but I dig. 4
T- Chicory, oak. Very wood-like. Licorice, brown sugar and roasty but acidic coffee. 4
M- Mild sweetness and oakiness. Bitter but not from hops. Easy-drinking. 4
I had Black Metal in the same session as this and have to say that the JK stout took the cake. This is still quite tasty though.
