This Bourbon Barrel Brett Brown is a happy accident, the salvation of a few things that went awry into something that went aright. B^4 is the a blend of TexiCali Brown Ale refermented with molasses in second run Bourbon barrels and blended with unhopped TexiCali that was inoculated in wine barrels with lactobacillus. The resulting blend was then bottle conditioned with Brettanomyces bruxellensis. Finishing at 7%, the flavor profile is of dark orchard fruits, raisinets, and faint molasses. 900 bottles available.

Poured from a bomber bottle into a wine glass.
L - Medium brown color and a bit murky, but that could be from handling. I bought a bottle at the brewpub and opened it immediately once reaching my hotel. Head was strong and creamy, as was the lacing.
S - Great aroma. Roasty, slightly burnt brown ale overlaid with strong Brett. character. Alcohol also a strong presence. Smells clean and fresh somehow, despite the funk.
T - Flavors are a mix of roasty, almost burnt malt and strong barnyard funk that seems to add aggressiveness to the roast.
F - Medium body with creamy, moderate carbonation. Moderate hops bitterness blends with alcohol burn and a bit of Brett. tartness.
O - Overall, an interesting and enjoyable experiment. The Brett. tartness and funk are well-blended with the malt and alcohol flavors and aromas.
