2011 vintage. Bomber labeled of 200 poured into a tulip appears a clear dark mahogany with khaki cap that fades leaving spotty lace.

Aroma starts off with almost a cider feel blending to raisons, minerals, currant and molasses.

Taste has a buttery grain aspect, slight raison, currant and slight herbal touch. Very mild dusty grain and fruity alcohol finish.

Medium in body, modest carbonation. Held up very well for being ~7 years old.

Picked up a bomber from the Brookshire Brothers grocery store in Canyon Lake, TX for $5.49. Bottled on 11-24-15.

Beer poured reddish-brown with a decent off white head that dissipated pretty quickly.

Nose is toffee and light roast.

Taste is a nice play between the caramel malts, toffee, and molasses. Finish is sweet but not cloyingly so.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall i like the molasses play in this beer. It was very noticeable with the first sip but going forward the melding with the caramel malts is quite nice. Glad i gave this brew a shot!

22 oz. bomber poured into nonic
(11/24/15 born on date)

L: brown, murky, almost 100% opaque to begin with, orange highlights when help up to light; pushes up small head of beige/tan foam, less than a finger tall; keeps thick beige collar and most of a skin; no major sticking or lacing

S: caramel, dried apricots, peat/earthy dirt note

T: sweet caramel, bitter dirt-hop bite midswallow with a lingering earthy flavor; peach

F: ale slick with a bit of heft; looks a bit flat but has plenty of carbonation; not milk stout thick and lumpy but it's filling with plenty of weight

O: fantastic brew with plenty of authentic English ale notes and a ton of great malt flavor; there's no tricks here in the final presentation, just a malty ale with a solid earthy backbone of hop flavor that's showing up despite nine-ten months of age

2012 bottle.

Smells bready and nutty, like almond butter spread on toast.

Similarly bready, malty, and nutty on the palate, along with a hint of tartness and some prune and dried fig sorts of flavors. Only moderately sweet; excellent balance between sweetness, smooth herbal earthy bitterness, slight acidity, and nuttiness. Brown or Scotch ale sort of malty flavors, with good depth, lingering in the finish along with some some bitterness, going completely dry, making the beer very drinkable.

Great texture; superfine carbonation, cushy and smooth.

Quite enjoyable; drinking well and probably shouldn't age much longer.

BA classifies this as a winter warmer. I’ve read others who classify it as an old ale or an American strong dark ale. Whatever the case, this is a good beer but not exceptional. A low impact ale. Nothing extreme. My expectations were higher. - 3.5

A - Dark garnet, opaque, with little to no head but nice lacing - 4

S - Some malty breadiness, but little else for me - 3.25

T - Just the slightest hint of alcohol, minimal sweetness. If this is an old ale then the attenuation is way too high. - 3.5

MF - Smooth even a little creamy, medium bodied, ever so slight sourness in the finish - 4

Deep auburn and clear with a pretty good head and so-so lace.

Spicy and caramel notes are forefront. Some bready and dark fruity character. Definitely some good funkiness too.

Medium to full body. Tangy, spicy finish.

Seems slightly on the fence between scotch ale and winter warmer, but was quite tasty.
