The last IPA standing on the Freetail boards... For now.

This pours a golden tan color with foam that holds on long after lesser beers would have dissipated. There’s a muted hop aroma—it’s not strong or domineering but takes some effort to really notice and appreciate. A little dank, with some light onion and garlic notes, only just barely. The flavor has a similar muted taste and bitterness without any citrusy or floral notes that would have given it some more dimension. This was good but I would have enjoyed just a little more hop presence on the aroma and flavor to really bring it out.

Amber to tan in color, slightly hazy, with an ok head and decent lacing.

Smell was crisp, bold and hoppy, with some caramel malts.

Taste was really good, a great blend of complex maltiness and bold, crisp hops. The forwardness of the hops seemed to be a common theme within this brewery's beers, and that's not a bad thing of course. Plenty of bitterness on this one lingering into the aftertaste nicely.

Body wise this one was light to medium and very, very easy to drink, almost too easy.

Overall this one is certainly one of the best I had at this brewery!

On tap during RealTail barrel aged beer festival.

A - Hazy orange with low head that maintained throughout the pint

S - Excellent balance of British hops and heirloom malts, very authentic British aroma

T - Matches up very well to the aroma. High end of the bitterness spectrum to still be a British style, but very well done.

M - Full bodied and well rounded with appropriate level of carbonation.

D - It would be quite easy to drink a few of these, especially at 5.3% ABV.

Had on tap at the brewery on 5 Aug 2010.

This beer was listed as a British-style Pale Ale. I have lived in England and I thought it was a very authentic beer. It had a good level of chalky crispness, lots of hop bitterness (although an American hop-head wouldn't agree), and a nicely moderate level of carbonation. This was a very drinkable beer that went well with my meal.

Sampled on tap at the Freetail-Real Ale barrel-aged festival in San Antonio.

The beer pours a hazy yellow orange color with a white head. The aroma is grapes and apples with some grassy hops. The flavor is bready malt plus grassy and earthy hops. While drinking the beer the only way I could describe it was as "very British." Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This one would be very interesting to try on cask.
