My daughter procured this 64 oz growler in San Antonio to haul home to me. Pours a dark brown which let in some light into the caudal section but none into the cranial portion. Head was minimal, but a thin ring did form around the edge of the pint glass. Smell was pleasant but not distinctive. Taste was astringent, alcoholic sweet with hints of chinaberries, mesquite, and fruity meconium. Thin, watery mouth feel but the malts and hops seemed to be well-balanced. This is an average brew, OK, but not worthy of another session for me.

Had during my visit to texas a few weeks back. Reviewed from notes. It arrived a brownish, almost copper color with a thin and spotty head to it. It left a little lacing as I drank it but not much.

The aroma is an equal mix of hoppy citrus and malty caramel. A little light in aroma overall for the style and size of the beer, but not bad at all.

The taste shows a hoppy, citrusy, grapefruit flavor to it with a bold, dry and bitter finish. A moderate malty flavor comes through with a little caramel to it.

The mouthfeel is a little above medium bodied with carbonation being moderate. Drinkability was decent, it had some nice flavors to it. It wasn't bad but didn't really stand out either. It could have used a bit more depth overall, but was still an enjoyable beer.

Pours a cola color with a thin pale brown head that leaves little lacing.

For a strong ale it is rather subdued on the nose. Maybe it's my allergies acting up in the Texas fall that have muted my lame sense of smell.

Taste is a nice and malty with some nice hops. Neither is overly dominate. There is a lot of malt backbone here to overcome the 70 IBUs.

This is not an over the top strong ale like strong ales can be, but a nicely balanced one. I could drink a lot of this one, even with the high ABV
