Got to drink this wonder of an IPA on-tap at Freetail on Wednesday, Jan 26th, and got 5 growlers of it for buddies back in Houston. I'm glad I did, because this was a special treat- definitely the best micro-brew I have ever had in my life from a brewpub.
From what I was told, this IPA is made based on Freetail's Soul Doubt IPA, filtered through a keg of hops (like a Randall?). Poured into pint glass, the appearance was a transparent orange color, a big contrast from the cloudy colored Soul Doubt IPA. Smell- huge pine, grapefruit, orange peel. Taste- biting hops (this is a hop head's wet dream!), big grapefruit flavor, and a bittersweet finish. I've had some great IPA's and IIPA's, and I considered this experience to be better than Pliney the Elder. Truly world-class beer Freetail- thanks!
