On tap at the brewpub shortly after the La Muerta bottle release.
The beer pours an orangish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is classic American IPA, with a little bit of biscuit malt and a lot of orange citrus and pine from the hops.
The flavor is similar. I get a lot of juicy orange citrus notes, as well as some biscuit malt. I also get some resin from the piney hops, but this takes a backseat to all of the citrus hop character. The bitterness is pretty low and the alcohol is fairly well hidden.
Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

from the tap into a tulip.
a: dark amber hue. slight head forms around the rim of the glass. just a smattering of carbonation on the surface. not much in terms of lacing.
s: raisin, butterscotch, syrupy malt. high alcohol character.
t: pungent malty flavor. the sweetness in the nose does not come across too strong in the flavor. a little pungent and biting, and a little bitter.
m: the biting character latches onto the palette. pungent, dry finish.
d: sip and enjoy.
atmosphere is pretty solid. dark amber hue, and a sweet high alcohol nose. the sweetness doesn't come across in the flavor (which is good, because based on the nose I feared something cloying). flavor is subdued malty character with a pungent bite. overall, this is a good quaff.

Poured into a sniffer.
Appearance: Light brown and hazy with a thin lacing on top that fades into a ring around the side of the glass.
Aroma: At first the beer was too cold to smell anything, but then as it warmed up I could make out a hint of caramel, pine and citrus with a mix of alcohol.
Taste: Very resinous and piney with a touch of caramel, also a noticeable alcoholic finish. Not balanced enough
Mouthfeel: Thick and syrupy, pungently hoppy and oily with low carbonation.
Overall: I was not as impressed with this version of their Hopothesis series as I have been with the last two I tried.
