16 fl oz can with a pull-tab top and orange simple label ran me $4.50 USD plus tax at Craft Beer Cellar in New Orleans, LA. Best before date (from bottom of can): 10/30/19.
"Blood orange India Pale Ale w/ Citra, Rakau and Wakatu." 7.0% ABV.
Tasty!
I could use more blood orange, but the new world tropical fruit hop profile is really working for me in this balanced ale, and it boasts nice depth of flavour and ample complexity. Guava, mango, orange, a scintilla of lychee and passionfruit...this is really nice. Pale malts keep it balanced, but there's no real hop bitterness to speak of.
Soft, smooth, wet, refreshing, medium-bodied, well-carbonated. Not oily, astringent, harsh, gushed, hot, or boozy.
Very mellow and approachable, with a crowd-pleasing tropical fruit focus that never falls prey to the usual Indiia Odwalla Ale nonsense...it evokes tropical fruit without tasting like supermarket juice.
Highly drinkable. It's a damn shame the brewery cans this in the cash-grab 16 fl oz format instead of using the consumer-friendly 12 fl oz sixer standby or I might actually buy it regularly. An enjoyable Louisiana brewed IPA that will crowdplease.
