Phenomenal. What a bullseye. A sour stout with spice.
L: having my 2nd bottle of it in the last month at Soulfreak in Clear Lake Shores, TX. Had to pour the last half into a clear cup so I could see it. Tiny bit of head after being open and warming for 20 minutes. Stout darkness. Sour aspect doesn’t change the color.
S: perfect foreshadow of the taste.
T: primarily a sour, with the chai spice. Not the most tart sour I’ve had, but great representative of the style. The tartness is clearly mellowed by the stout. One can tell it’s a dark, but the normal stout characteristics are lost to the sour. The chai spice is an inspired pairing to a sour stout. Just the perfect bridge between the two.
F: not heavy at all. Crimps the taste buds in the middle of the tongue as a sour should.
O: when I had some extra time before meeting people for dinner, I had to get it again after the first time a few weeks ago. If you like sours, you will love this. Certain foodies or even a dry red wine drinker might be converted by trying a sip. Really a great unique beverage.
