Notes:
New Growth Pale Ale celebrates the return of locally crafted beer brewed with regionally harvested ingredients. Driftwood Brewery and Sartori Cedar Ranch have combined their savvy to craft a decidedly British Columbian pale ale. Sartori’s Centennial and Newport hops shine through in this refreshing session ale. Cheers!

This beer is NOT retired, it is one of their core beers and available in many places (wish more Pubs had it). A lower ABV version of Fat Tug so well worth trying. https://driftwoodbeer.ca/beers/new-growth-pale-ale/.

650ml bottle poured into Sam Adams pint glass.
Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with two fingers of loose fluffy off-white head that leaves monstrous tentacle and eyeball lace as it recedes.
Smells of mild rising bread, juicy orange and lemon, pine needles and bitter green hops.
Tastes of sappy pine, more doughy caramel malt, citrus rind and more resiny hops.
Feels perky and fizzy. Medium-light bodied with active carbonation. Finishes dry.
Verdict: Recommended. Intense and refreshing.

This beer is popping with aroma of citrus and pine, but i did not enjoy it at all. The flavors do not meld well on the palate and overall i was very disappointed

Pours a hazy, light orange body with a bubbly white head about a finger high. The scent is very strong in citrus aroma, with a slight pineyness to it. The taste is immediately bitter in hops, with less fruitiness in all. It has an alright feel as well. I honestly think this nearly goes to the IPA zone, and maybe tries to hard to appeal to that group, but it is ok. Would buy if cheaper.

Appearance - Pours a pale copper with two fingers of foamy white head.
Smell - citrus and hint of piney hops, bready caramel malts, and hint of grapefruit peel.
Taste - citrus hops predominately followed by the hint of piney hops. The bready caramel malts and hint of grapefruit peel follow and the brew finishes with a pleasant soapiness.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with a pleasant lingering bitterness from the citrus hops.
Overall - A refreshing APA that uses the citrus hop bitterness and malt sweetness to its advantage. The hops dominate the brew. I could easily see this as a session brew.

Great lacing, hints of floral hops in aroma. Some floral in flavor but very dry, bitter grapefruit with some tea-like flavors as well. A good pale ale overall.

Poured from a 650ml bottle. Colour is an almost orange, cloudy. Topped with solid, fluffy head that reduces to gradually a finger but persists there. Fairly dark for a pale ale. Smell is, initially, classic session ale--light but with an assertive, perfumey hop presence (citrus, some grapefruit pith, herbal). But after a couple sniffs, you realize there's a lot more caramel malt backbone here than you get with, say, a Muskoka Detour or Red Racer ISA. Taste is well-balanced between malt and hops, leaning a bit toward a linger hop bitterness; solid body with moderate carbonation.
A really well-made, drinkable pale ale. Certainly more interesting than your average pale ale.

Oh my. This is a wonderful APA. This is my second Driftwood brew and so far, it's living up the the hype. I'm very impressed with the fresh, spicy, substantial flavour in this beer. A variety of sensations hit your palate in an unpredictable but ultimately tasty way. To me, it oozes cedar, rainforest and salt - a true reflection of the place it comes from.

This is one of the best pale ales I've had. The hops come through with a bitter finish but there is also an herbal and earthy note underneath. Truly excellent. I buy this beer regularly and often along with Fat Tug.
