Pours a very pale straw yellow color. Aroma is light mats. Flavor is lightly malty with a hint of coriander. Has a decent body but overall its pretty light with not a ton of flavor.

Another offering from the good local microbrewery, owned by a gringo, let's give it a whirl. Popping the top I get a very biscuity nilla wafer waft with a hint of grape. Pours into a chalice to a cloudy pale straw color with a bright white creamy two finger head that laces as it slowly recedes. On the taste this brew has a deep grape flavor followed with a bready slightly sour orange middle and a fade to a clean finish with no aftertaste. I think this would be a great spicy food beer or would pair well with a ceviche (spicy) or sushi with loads of wasabi. Tasty and unique.

Pale hazy yellow color with lot of fluffy head with good retention.
Light aroma of Belgian yeast and pineapple.
Refreshing citric flavor, orange-lemon like, with notes of yeast and pineapple. Decent beer. I liked it but not even close to Hoegaarden and alike. Less spicy, complex and even refreshing.

A: Hazy / cloudy pastel yellow. Small white head that falls super fast. A few streams of bubbles. A ring stays, but not rally any lacing action is noticed.

S: Coriander more than orange/citrus peel. Not very strong though. Light hint of grainy malt in the background. Pleasant enough.

T: Again – balanced to coriander, but much more rich and robust. Nice mix that is predominately herbal with some citrus & a bit of peppery spice. Backbone wheat & grainy malts. Towards the end the herbal hops shine free from the coriander and linger on in the finish. Just a ghostly hint of pucker.

M: Medium / light with firm yet softly textured carbonation. Flash of sugars up front, but it is rather attenuated with a strong herbal drying finish.

D: Glorious simplicity. Not as complex as some, but it hits a few key notes with a very deft touch and good balance. Very solid, if a bit basic (great depth though to what is there), super approachable and drinkable. The firm herbal coriander & edge of a pucker lend a slightly rustic impression.

So i went back to the BBC a week later asking if they still had the Palenqera lulo. No -they said- but we have the bacata blanca.

So this is certainly a hyperdynamic brewery in the better sense of the word. not a few days go by and you can get a sense of something new they're trying. fantastic. i find myself having a renewed love for my local micro.

I presumed initially this would be a witbier (blanca=white=wit) but i found myself having a hard time classifying it as it was brought to me. in the end, american pale wheat seems more adequate.

Poured in a duvel tulip (the first time around, second pour was in a BBC tulip), more orange seeming than golden pale. nice white shiny head. pour definetly more akin to an SN wheat than a Hoegaarden.

Smell also inclines to the drier, less citric wheat feel of the american kinds rather than the wheat. not too strengthy but is there and is certainly pleasant. maybe a bit mouldy at times, even forging some hefe feel there.

Taste is good and refreshing. soft, dry wheat and malts blend with a modest hoppy finish, which rather than cutting and contrasting is enhancing of the feel. body is medium, not too heavy and rather well carbonated and inviting. and has a seemingly well concealed booze because, as i pleasantly sipped through 3 of these, i progressively became more talkative. very subtle, but not bad at all.

A good beer, i'll stick to classics (see: chia weiss) but this beer is a worthy tap by what i consider is still the best brewery in this country.
