Presentation: It was served on tap in a pint glass from The Pearl Street Grill and Brewery.

Appearance: The body has a dark brownish color with a light creamy tan head. The head was thick with good retention and thick lacing that coats the glass before slowly sliding down the glass.

Smell: The aroma is big sweet and very malty with some roasted notes and hints of smokiness.

Taste/Mouth feel: Its flavor has a big malty sweet character with notes of brown sugar and toffee. Also there are some mild hints of roasted barley, lightly smoked malt and very a mellow and warming alcohol presence that adds some nice complexity. The body has a solid medium to full body with nice smooth texture and well rounded mouth feel. Its carbonation is about average and it finishes with a malty sweetness.

Notes: A nice solid brew with a very lovely appearance.

10.5% alc per chalkboard at Pearl Street.Poured into small goblet a deep amber/brown color with a thinner but well sustained off white head, hints of brown sugar and dark fruit mainly with a lingering earthiness but not really assertive in the nose. The alcohol is prevelant from the start from very first sip, basic malt flavors dark fruit and sweeter brown sugar and molasses notes there is a noticable drying earthiness that comes late and through to the finish.Basic but thats not all bad its got good flavors and the alcohol actually adds a bit of zip to it,another decent new beer from Pearl Street.

On the recommendation of the waiter, my brother brought me home a growler of this ale. It pours a deep brown/copper color with a bubbly, foamy tan head, leaving a considerable amount of lacing along the glass. The smell is very, very sweet with hints of malt. The taste is also sweet, with smokiness and malt coming through heavily. Considering the 8.5% ABV content, this beer was considerably smooth. The high ABV tho' does leave a nice warming sensation in your belly, so it's a great choice for a cold day. Might not be the greatest session beer, but very enjoyable.

Dark muddy brown, flat, no head, zero carbonation. Aromas of things that are confusing to my olfactory sense. Dirty water, with a bit of sweet caramel, and maybe a tinge of roasted malts. Taste is not much better, unfortunately. this tastes maybe a bit sweet with some caramel, and a bit roasty, but mostly there is an "off", dirty water flavor that I could not shake. Mouthfeel is thin and watery. Drinkability is not so good. Thank god I just got the sampler here, and no full pints!

Eye Candy: Transparent dark brown with light dark amber edges. A real beauty in the light. Steady lines of risng carbonation. 2 finger fizzy tan head. Some initial lacing and retention. As with most of Pearl Street's brews, it achieves that looks like it died look.

The Nose Knows: Deep and rich roasted malt, a touch of biiter chocolate. Alcohol well hidden.

Tongueland: Quick honey-like sweetness, mostly rich malts. Not as chewy as it looked, slightly thin. Emerging alcohols danced on the tongue as it warmed, but were by no means overpowering. Perfectly warimg on a cold Buffalo day by the lake.

Bender Factor: A growler of this is $11, same as the other brews on tap. You will only need 2.
