Glass at the brewpub, where the barman informed me that this was a maibock. Its the end of July?
Maibock or not, this is definitely a lager in the German style. Orange pour with a whispy off-white head. The aroma is somewhat bready, with a light floral hopping and an earthy spiciness...quite pleasant. Like a movie trailer that gives too much away, it replicates the flavour exactly, and the only new elements I notice are a heightened toastiness and the slight metallic twang of noble hops. The body is medium-light, but I find the carbonation too much, and there's still some beer in my glass when I leave.
One of Pearl Street's better brews, and if they smoothed out the carbonation this could be a very drinkable lager.
