On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, toffee, caramel, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with really nice bourbon barrel characteristics, but the quadruple beer blended into this one is not really all that noticeable.
Serving type: on tap.
