Picked up the 750ml for $11.99, poured into a Mikkeller lambic glass
Head is very carbonated, nice retention, body is slightly hazy and watery looking, splotchy lacing
Aroma is seriously funky, smells musty and old.. lots of lemon grass, hints of lemon lime citrus with orange zest
Taste is like soggy cardboard, some onion garlic funk, spicy and herbal this one is offputting and I’d say the original Citra Rye was lost in the funk
Feel is lightly carbonated, really smooth
Overall I had high expectations, but this was a fail in my book, too off-balanced..

Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice slightly hazy dark golden orangey color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, malty, yeasty, some licorice, with some citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, peach), nice funkyness. The taste is pretty nice, malty, yeasty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, peach), really nice funkyness, licorice. Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely, nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this one surprised me, kinda was not expecting this, from them.

interesting beer here on tap at crafty fox. its a little darker than anticipated, but seemingly no maltier in the flavor or the feel than something more pale, its light amber and super lively in the glass, but dry and without a ton of grain character really. the first thing about it is how lively it is. fizzy as a soda pop, tickling the nose as i take in the soft citra hops and aggressive cultured brett profile. this doesnt taste wild to me, it tastes like a brett blend from a vial, but its super developed, almost to a fault, like the rest of the experience is fairly mild and delicate, its not even all that hoppy, but the brett seems overdosed to the point of dominating, and the funk and medical twang that it brings is kind of over the top, as much as the farmy mustiness of it is appealing, and would work great if scaled back a little bit. the hops have no bitterness at all, so its all that intense brett to finish, i almost wish for more balancing malt at the end, odd as that seems. carbonation is expert, this is really alive in the glass which i love, but the proportions arent quite right. hoped for milder overall, more sessionable, and more fresh and bright citra hops, which really do succumb to the yeast here. nice to see these guys tackling beers like this, but this is a step away from dialed in...
