Look: Cloudy dark orange with a lively off-white head that builds, hold slightly, and falls to a lid, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Warm what bread, some apple-like esters, light wafts of clove, and hints of lemon
Taste: Lemon comes on strong and fast and immediately followed by clove and wheat bread. These all mingle some before the apple-like notes roll in and capture the spotlight for a bit before yeast closes it out along with some lemon
Mouthfeel: Full, highly carbonated with an odd prickly note/sensation that honestly, not only kills any softness that I’d expect from a wheat ale but also lingers through the entire finish
Overall: This is okay. I like these folks’ beer and have had stuff from them for years that are always solid to really good, but this one isn’t working for me. Flavors and aromas are good, albeit different, but that prickly carbonation note brings a sharpness to what should be a smooth and soft style of beer and also overpowers most of the closing flavor in it. Might be an off can but this is a rare miss for them and I’d like to try it again to see for sure
