From the 2008 Bramwell Oktoberfest (I've got a LOT of these to go).
Poured from a sixtel into a pint glass. Clear red-brown with no head, no lacing, nothing visual of note, really.
Nice, sweet malt aroma with bread-like undertones. Fine smelling beer.
Solid yet light malt taste, slightly toasty. Sweetness of malt is not overpowering at all. Just enough of a hop presence to let you know there's some in there. Yeasty, bready aftertaste.
Crisp mouthfeel, which surprised me based upon the headless, carbonationless appearance. Good upfront feel with pleasant back of the palate roundness. Easy to quaff few. Very drinkable.
Other notes: Some breweries kinda have a certain flavor profile that crosses styles. The IPAs share a commonality with the stouts, or the pilsners with the marzens. WVBC is one of those with a distinctive flavor. This brew was definitely a WV product. Nice overall drinking experience; hope to get some more next time it's around.

pours a brown with virtually no head.
The nose is a bit on the sweet side with really nothing detected as far as the hops. Fruits, maybe plums or figs come to mind. Also has a bit of a sulphur oder in the mixed, although not at all unpleasant.
Taste is a bit thin for what I believe this style should be. Lacking a bit of the sweetness and mouthfeel that this style should have.

This black lager pours a very nice dark color with good head and nice lacing. It has a good scent, if kind of weak, nice malty with just a hint of hops to even it out. It has a very good taste, deep with a nice sweet and malty flavor, and a nice tang at the end. It goes down very well, slightly sparkly without being over carbonated. Another nice seasonal from Ned.
(And yes, I realize Ned named it Dunkel... I felt it was more of a schwarzbier and it's description from the bartender also lends itself more to this style. But "Decker's Dunkel," named after a local creek, is a great name.)
