had on draft onsite at WVBC on 7.3.08.
good looking beer, best one of the bunch. had a decent head, cloudy golden color.
decent smell, orange peel and malt aroma.
good wheat beer. I am not a personal fan of them but can judge their effectiveness.
nice work

This had to be one of the worst looking beers I have seen in a while. Cloudy, virtually no head to speak of. Lacing....non existent.
Smell was good. Wheat malt, yeast...reminding me of sweet breads.
Taste was nice. Good mouthfeel...very wheaty with a slight rounded finish.
Very nice beer.

Poured a very nice cloudy yellow/sunny color, with good immediate head, but not much to follow and little lacing (not unusual in a wheat). Nice crisp scent, a little sweet and mellow, not much there. Nice taste, the yeast's banana/clove flavor really comes out, but with a very nice wheat flavor. It goes down very smooth, a nice hefe.
(Note regarding Sammy's review below: A friend of mine also tried it a few days ago and didn't care for it then, either, but tried it again today and found it to be much better. It may have just needed a few more days on tap.)

Enjoyed on-tap at the Morgantown brewpub, this is an American wheat and not a hefeweizen. 5.4% abv. A wheaty fruty aroma. Grapefruit coloured with near zero head. Its sourness malted down for drinkability. It has above average carbonation, and some odd water as if warning me the water is safe to drink but not tasty.

Served in a pint glass from a growler (served 3 hours after pouring, for some people's edification!!) poured at WVBC. The color is hazy gold, with a nice thick head, as you'd probably expect from a wheat beer. The smell is very strongly banana-ish with a slight tinge of citrus. The taste is definitely dominated by a banana sweetness, with just a slight bit of a wheat and less clove than other hefes. Mouthfeel is the good hefe carbonation. As for drinkability, this is an excellent one, and definitely one I hope to have as much as possible this year, and await the next!!
Congrats to Ned Strausser for a hefe that stands up with the best I've ever had!! WVBC deserves a lot of credit as the best brewery in WV, and featuring some damn good beers, and I'll definitely keep this up there as one of my favorites.

My all time favorite WVBC beer, this is one of those beers that you can just relax with all day long. It is very well done, the two brewers are very organized and knowledgeable about what they do. The beer is a slightly orange yellow cloudy unfiltered with a very nice creamy white head. This beer is full of aroma with smooth sweet banana esters, and a sweet citrusy hop background. The beer is so drinkable that for me it is literally dangerous. The flavors are very balanced and on the money for the style, helped me fall in love with bavarian style hefeweizens. The banana, clove, and yeast esters are all present to the finish of the flavor of this beer. Simply put, an amazing representation of the style.
"Update"
This years Grist Mill is now flowing and if your in the area it's worth a stop down at the WVBC, this beer seems even better than last year's version. More body and flavor better all around, may be picking up a keg.
