First had: on tap at the Blacksburg brewpub

I've learned that I'm pretty picky with hefes, but considering the brewery overall, this one was not too bad. Hazy, golden-yellow pour with a foamy white head that sank to a ringlet, leaving some slight lacing on the glass. Typical aroma, toasted wheat, banana esters, spicy clove. Flavor was on the thin side, but everything in the nose was there on the palate: wheat, banana, clove, slightly herbal hop notes. Light and crisp, nice for hot days.

A-Hazy pale golden yellow with a thin white head that hangs on fairly well and leaves spotty lace.

S-Typical triumvirate of hefe aromas with banana, clove and bubblegum present. Spicy clove was the boldest of the three with banana second and bubblegum taking a distant third. While all were present the overall assertiveness was rather light.

T-Better presentation on the palate with a nice spicy clove bite moderated by banana sweetness and a nice grainy wheat malt base.

M-A touch lite in the mouthfeel almost made it feel like an American Wheat instead of a true German hefe. Avoided getting dinged more with good lingering flavours and a spicy bite in the finish.

D-Good but not great by any means. Certainly worthy of a pint or two and I am sure it will sell well in the warmer months. Not my ideal hefe but....few are!
