Beware, I never went to this place. The above ratings are only to be able to post this message, though I did look in it once when we tried to eat there but they were not open for lunch on Saturday. So ignore all of my numeric ratings. The important part is below.

So, why am I writing a review for a place I never went to? Well, we wanted to go there, but then I read an interview with the owner in either Mid Atlantic Beer News or Richmond Magazine, in which he stated that he has no desire to brew complex or challenging beers. While I do not want every beer I drink to be a challenge, I definitely do not want to go to or support a place that is only interested in brewing light tasting beer. The guy actually seemed to be saying that he was going after the Budweiser/Corona drinker. While I see nothing wrong with drinking a Corona (as long as it's w/o the damn lime ;), do we really need a brewpub dedicated to this market? A helles and/or kolsch should pretty much cover this market and then offer other beers for those in search of a more rewarding brew. For those looking for a more rewarding brewpub experience, you may want to try nearby Legend or Richbrau instead.

Yikes, the beers here almost make you want to stop drinking (alright that's a bit harsh, but you get the idea). The atmosphere is very different, as the previous reviewer noted. The positives are that it has plenty of parking and is in a cool section of town. If they could just brew better beer. I'm not crazy about the modern decor, but could care less if there's good beer. I noted that most of the beers tasted very similiar. Although I'm sure they're not using extract, it did have an "extract bite" to it. I think they need to scrap their receipes and start again new. Sorry, but until things change for the better, I won't be going back.
