Two drafts served in a brimming tulip glass at City Provisions.
Thanks to Cleetus for the Templeton sidecar for research purposes.

Appears to be a pumpernickel shade of blackened brown at first, with some auburn highlights around the edges. In the light it has some light reflecting clarity, and can be seen through in the last half of the glass. It's foam is a tobacco-stained parchment color, which is rekindled by a swirl, leaving minimal spotty lace on the sides of the glass.

Deep and rich aromas of toffee, vanilla, caramel breadiness, wet wood, and rye whiskey.

Flavors are robust and barrel derived, plenty of vanilla and oak from the barrel which pairs nicely with the toffee and nutty malt flavors of the base doppelbock. Alcohol is present, though fairly well integrated, and the body is deceptively light, never becoming syrupy or heavily boozy. Low to medium carbonation. Overall a successful collaboration that I hear may be an annual release if things go as planned. Looking forward to sampling more of this at FoBAB.
