Gravity pour at Jake Melnick's. Served in a taster stange.
A - A creamy off-white foam settles to a near-complete cap, collar, and tiny spots of lace. Hazy golden body.
S - Reminds me a little of Schlenkerla's smoked helles, as the chipotle peppers definitely contribute a smoked malt character to the base lager. That being said, fruity and toasty malt flavors are more present than a Schlenkerla beer.
T - Taste is definitely more Vienna lager, with some noble hop, toasty grains, and fruity sweetness. Peppers impart a light smoke character as well as some mild spice and heat.
M - Smooth texture, creamy medium body, lower carbonation, no obvious alcohol, and a low amount of pepper warmth. Crisp and clean lager finish.
D - This beer was an extremely pleasant surprise - the smokey character of the chipotles worked well, and the heat was appropriately restrained. I happily had a few pours of this one, and wouldn't object to having a larger glass in the future. Hopefully Metropolitan makes this one again.

A_ had a great wedding lace head quickly dissipated. Good color standard lager. Simple carb you expect for cask.
S- super sweet. That caramel and bready body. Characteristic. Faint chipotle smoke.
T- big sweetness and bready. Low biscuit. Ultimately light caramel and sucrose. Then that smoke bursts the finish. Good heat, never burns or rises. Perfect flavors.
M- full bodied, crisp initially then moves to creamy smoky and spicy. Good spicy though.
Good beer. 12 ounces or less.
