Appearance: Slips from the growler a clear, dark, mahogany-hued body with a very thin, ivory-hued head.
Smell: Scents of chocolate and toasted pumpernickel bread, with a dusting a spice, and hints of banana, apple, and an incorporated, underlying earthiness.
Taste: Mild pumpernickel bread character with sweet nibbles of chocolate and caramel. Pinch of ground spice tasting of muted cinnamon or nutmeg. Sliver of 'nana and Red Delicious. Soft layer of earthy, herbal hops with a light complimentary bitterness. Semi-dry, meagerly malty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A fairly decent dunkel.

I thought this beer was "okay".
It seemed a little dark to me, even to style. A little caramel mid-pallate but somewhat one dimensional in this way. Definately a very drinkable beer. It is very clean, honestly I would prefer to experience a little more phenolic character which seems to be what is lacking to me that makes a great Dunkelweizen.
