Appearance: Pours a clear mahogany color with a one finger ecru head; a few speckles linger
Smell: The Rye barrel aging is prominent in the aroma with tobacco, char and rye spice dominant; hints of black cherry and licorice underneath
Taste: A few sweet elements launch with black cherry and licorice but those flavors are quickly pushed aside by the Rye whiskey barrel tones; Rye spice, tobacco and a hint of char dominate, as they do in the aroma; the finish is boozy
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation; considerable warmth in the gullet
Overall: This drinks as if it has a higher ABV than 11% and is a bit unbalanced in favor of the Rye; I happen to like Rye but the whiskey flavors are too dominant for my palate - If I want to drink Rye, I would rather have it straight up
