12oz can. Poured out a hazy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of orange, grapefruit, peach and sweet caramel. Sweet fruity taste with toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Look: Dark orange on the pour and copper in the glass with a lovely white head that settles to a silky lid and leaves sheets of lacing behind
Aroma: Navel orange flesh and juice, tangerine, Cara cara orange, wafts of raspberry, and mandarins. This is s straight-up orange bomb on the nose
Taste: The taste follows suit, starting with a huge hit of orange-led citrus that hits hard up front before settling in, bringing some alcohol heat with it. A little raspberry mixes in in the middle but the orange/tangerine/mandarin train keeps trucking through until it closes out with more ethanol
Mouthfeel: Full but light, slick, clean, medium-high carbonation, and clean and slick on the finish
Overall: I dig it. This is a pretty good Citrus IIPA that drinks as an orange bomb, which it is. The high ABV lends to a slick and pretty light feel, which is different, and the hops and fruit can’t fully hide the 9% easily, which would be my principal knock. Solid though and a totally different IIPA than most out there

Citrus slayer IPA
- New Belgium Brewing
Look: 3.75 It looks like beer...
It's technically gorgeous...
Smell: 4.0
Direct from the can It smells like pink grapefruit. Pouring into the glass and reassessing, the aromas open as more tropical fruit notes appear. Very distinct: pineapple, pine, mandarin orange, grapefruit, these can rotate through like a single note on a piano and also hit you loud like a full chord.
Taste: 3.5 l 5.0
Now here's where there's a fork in the road. If this is really beer. I'm amazed. Yeah, I had to rewrite the review. It wasn't until I chugged those mini cans for their effect that I noticed. And then I knew, It's a fabricated malt cocktail, if I have to be true.
Mouthfeel: 3.75 l 5.00
It's alive It's delicious It's technically good. It's not so impressive when you look under the hood..
Overall: 2.25 l 5.00
I've had a number New Belgium IPAs over the past months and with all their marketing and all their variety It has served me well, to calibrate my pallet, Look taste feel and smell. Lots of variation, lots of iterations, lots of can art and marketing stops and starts. It's made me really sharp, but I've been looking for love and "True Love is Rare". This one tells you what you want to hear, but sorry it's not the real thing, it's not really beer.
Note: I've downgraded this as my senses have become aware. I scored it a number of times and it was as high as 4.3 / 5.0. But now the dust is settled in the jury is back. It's kind of delicious sometimes, but it's not beer jack !

New Belgium Brewing Co. "Voodoo Ranger Citrus Slayer IPA"
12 fl. oz. can coded "250830031T 19184 01 MAR 2026 0810"
$1.50 @ Wine, Beer, and Spirits, Omaha, NE
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a crystal clear deep golden body beneath a massive head of rocky bright white foam. The aroma is bright with loads of sugary hard candy-like grapefruit and tangerine. It's a bit like a Jolly Rancher but they don't make a flavor like this. Is this a flavored beer? Yes, unfortunately, it is, it's an "IMPERIAL INDIA PALE ALE WITH NATURAL FLAVOR". That kills it for me as the aroma is so off-putting, but OK, on to the taste... it tastes like it smells but it's not quite as strong on the artificial flavor, and there is some lightly caramelish malt to it. The alcohol is clear, but it probably should be at 9%. It's basically one-sided with alcohol washed sugary fruit candy. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp-then-smooth. What a disaster this is. The appearance is the best part about it in my opinion, with the mouthfeel coming in second. It doesn't seem like beer, but rather a malternative. This could be a Four Loko flavor. I find it repulsive and I'm going to dump the rest of it. I can't score this well but it's not because of quality, it's because of recipe.

Can courtesy of Mike - thanks, mate!
I get a lot of pungent artifical grapefruit, some pithy bitterness, some mild booze, and that's really it.

12 oz. can from variety pack pours a clear dark golden with modest white head and not much lacing. When I opened it, I could smell grapefruit from almost two feet away. Aroma is mostly grapefruit and other citrus, but there's also a substantial amount of sweet caramel. Taste is bitter, but not an assault on the senses. Booze is there. Body is medium to full with noticeable carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. Another mass-produced high alcohol IPA befitting the brand that has become ubiquitous at gas stations and grocery stores.

This beer is legit! Grapefruit IPA all the way. Fantastic beer, if you can find it!

12 oz can from the Wall of Beer ($2) in Clemson, SC.
A the name suggests, this IPA has loads of citrus notes in a moderately hoppy version of the style.
