Glass: Craft beer pint glass

Appearance: Light orange, thick creamy head that turns rocky as it dissipates. Lively carbonation.

Aroma: Strong pepper with grapefruit from the cascades hops.

Taste: Sweet maltyness balanced out with hops and pepper.

Mouthfeel: Thin to medium bodied, average carbonation. Pepper and hops bitterness in the finish.

This brew is very smooth for an IPA. Lots of pepper flavor where the hops profile of an IPA usually is

On tap at my work. Shout out to Jared (NB rep in our area) for getting this keg for us! Pours a hazy, orangish-copper-rust color with a small white head that disappears quickly. Scent is hoppy at first, but immediately gets peppery. Tons of pepper...which is a good thing...remind me of saisons. Some nice citrus notes a swell. Taste is just as it smells, but with more pepper. A ton of pepper flavor to this beer. Not a fan of pepper???...stay away from this beer. It works well here with the bitter hops and citrus fruits. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and somewhat sticky. Drinkability is high. Overall, our beer rep said this was an old keg. He wasn't sure how old, so I don't know when this was released. If this is an old keg, an IPA, and tasting this good...it must have been great fresh. Or maybe the pepper shines through more now, making it better. Who know....solid beer though.

Poured into a Black Raven pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber. Nice two finger off-white head with good retention and great lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and pepper with faint hops. Flavor is peppery with a nice sweet malt base. Fresh pepper dominates but an interesting oregano element is also present. A hop bite at the end, but hops flavors are subsumed into the other spices. Medium bodied with some creaminess. I really like this spicy ale. I'm a big fan of fresh cracked pepper and this ale delivers a great pepper beer experience. Mmm..

Bottle from Elizabeth Station in Bellingham. Had it on tap there a while back and remember it being interesting...

Appearance. Pours a hazy, rich amber-orange with almost two fingers of thick head.

Smell. Sweet roasted grains, prickly ground pepper, some juicy citrus hops are there but it's a strange mix with the pepper.

Taste. Instant sweet black pepper(?), some big citrus hops and tropical fruits. Some lasting bitterness with the pepper there all the way through. It's getting better the more I drink.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body with below medium carbonation.

Overall. I like pepper, and I like IPAs, but the two don't work all that well together for me. Interesting for sure, but not something that made me all "damn thats good beer!!".

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a light honey amber color with about a half-inch of off-white head that had pretty good retention and lacing.

The aroma had a bit of grainy malt as a base and mostly featured some gently piney hops. There was just a faint trace of pepper in the background. The profile was pretty similar on the tongue, basically it tasted like an average, middle of the road IPA, with just a tingle of pepper on the finish.

The body was fairly typical as well, the medium thin of most American IPAs, but it was just a bit sticky on the finish. Drinkability was OK, although the pepper might tire out the palate if you were to have multiples. Overall, an OK brew, one that's worth a shot if you see it.
