Sampled this at Creekside Brewing Co. last night following an awesome BA gathering. Thanks again Eric! With that said, the notes I took on this beer were pretty sloppy. I was a bit drunk at the time...
Served in a nonic.
Appearance: Deep brown body with caramel edges. A soapy, khaki-colored head retains nicely and drags some lacing.
Smell: Resinous hops, caramel, porter-like aromas, and pine. Pretty herbal too. Smells intense, but could use some more complexity.
Taste: Resinous hops, dry dark chocolate, and lime. Finishes very bitter and dry, but with a full-flavored and long-lasting aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Oily, moderately carbonated, prickly, and full. This black IPA doesn't hold anything back. Fantastic mouth-coating, and nice mouth-numbing too. Can be a little hard to handle.
Drinkability: This is an intense black IPA. Can't wait to give it another try.
