I have been coming here for decades. My main stop when in Stuttgart. Local Schwabisch food and fine fresh beers. A nice old school setting and great to bring guests to.

I liked this place, the wife not so much: It is reached by a set of stairs from the street, next to a Kebab joint. The area is just above seedy, not rough, but appears to be getting that way, safe but interesting!
Anyway, at the top of the stairs the place opens up into one huge room with an island bar in the centre.
We sat in the far corner from the stairway, in a cheap looking 'Band Stand' which had bird cages hanging off it, complete with plastic birds inside. I thought the whole place was different and fun, my wife thought it a semi-Turkish style shabby, unelegant, hotch-potch of a place. Lets just say it is a strange set-up.
The brewing equipment is close to the toilets (make of that what you wish) and they claimed it was still in use, it wasn't on the September Sunday evening we visited (2009).
I had two different beers and they were OK, nothing special and not reviewed. We snacked on a flammkuchen, which was just what we needed and was very nice.
