We first tried this at the brewery. As a fan of pumpkin beer this is one of the best - challenging Southern Tier.

I'm rating the last five growlers of the year, which may explain the lack of head when poured.

A - clean and clear, less than one finger foam. Little lacing on the glass

S - you get the spices cinnamon and nutmeg?

T - a really big pumpkin taste, the cinnamon lingers ling after you finish

M - crisp and clean. Leaving you wanting more.

This is the newest pumpkin beer by Blue Hills Brewery for Fall 2011. This year, they are making a Pumpkin Lager, not a Pumpkin Ale like last year. Available in growlers at the brewery. Poured into a pilsener glass. Light orange colored body. Very little head or carbonation. Smell had a fresh aroma of pumpkin pie. Taste was fairly enjoyable. Lots of flavors of sugar, cinnamon, and baked pie crust. Mouthfeel was just average. When I think pumpkin, I like a hearty body that comes with an ale. This lager is a bit thin for my liking for a pumpkin beer. But, people may find this beer very easy to drink, as the light body would allow you to drink a few of these, which is not always the case with heavier pumpkin ales. I applaud Blue Hills for releasing something out of the ordinary by putting out a pumpkin lager.
