Off the tap at the brewery in Bethel, ME this lager was a clear gold color with a white head. The retention of the thin collar was decent and there was a little lacing. The aroma was of classic 'lager' malts, yeast and hints of hops in the background. The flavors were bigger still with a grainy start that then became a little sweet in the middle on the pale malt note followed by a hard, hoppy finish. The bitter finish was crisp but so taut it was nearly sour (citrus-like hops). This was further pronounced by the way it left a slick, slightly oily coating on my tongue. The body was medium and the carbonation on-target for a lager. A good, balanced, classic lager.

Single, twelve-ounce bottle copped from New Beer Distributors on Chrystie Street in Manhattan...
Pours a hazy, murky, dark, golden-colored hue with a modest foamy head that left a nice amount of lacing...
Spicy, pepperish, malty aroma replete with hints of bread and butter and nuts...
Taste was malt-dominated and caramel-laden... Good, clean, crisp, refreshing flavor with slight nuances of honey and candied sugars with a sugary finish... Hints of green apples, melons, and pears also abound...
Good mouthfeel and a top-notch level of drinkability make for an easily drinkable, enjoyable beer...

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a 12oz mug. Dark golden/orange..a bit close to urine for my liking :)
Smells of bread and some spicey hops, my nose has not been itself this week but I am reviewing anyway damnit.
Taste of biscuity bready on the tounge with a crisp dry pislener-esque hop finish. I very much like this taste. If the hop aftertaste and malty nose were a bit closer together, I'd give this a 5.
Mouthfeel is quite nice, although the alcohol notes seem to stand out.
Drinkability is incredible. I could session these on a warm day with few snacks.
If only I could get them cheaper in a 12 pack!

A cross of straw and light gold in color; clear. No head, given the glass, but leaves very nice lace.
Nearly lacking of all smells; I can only detect the faintest amount of sourness.
The strongest flavor reminds me of cardboard. This is a dry beer. The finish offers some redemption with a subtle but notable flowery hop. The body is also very good--like skim milk. The carbonation is slightly on the high side.
This is not a special beer nor is it obnoxious. Of the offerings at the brew pub, this was my least favorite.

Another great beer picked up in taxachusetts.
The beer poured a golden to orange cloudy color with a thin lacy head and some carbonation. Not at all what I was expecting. The bouqet has a bit of hops, citrus, butter and grains, again most unusual for a beer of this type.
On to the taste, a complex blend of butter and citrus with just a hint of orange. Not sure even after the 12 oz. that I fully understand this beer.
Very easy in the mouth with a nice filling feel on the tongue. No real aftertaste, which I was worried about during the pour. This is a highly drinkable beer that is something different.

Pours a cloudy golden. Thin white head with some retention, and good lacing. Aroma is of bready malts, and floral hops. Medium bodied, with a bit of carbionation. Taste is sweet, and bready, with buttery undertone. A bit of hops in the finish, makes this a very nice brew!

I'm pleasantly suprised to be finding sunday River here in NH, anything different around here is exciting.
AP: Pours out a clear golden color with rusty-orange hues and adequate carbonation to create a one-finger deep, frothy and lumpy slightly off-white head that displays good retention qualities.
Nose: Fresh doughy, biscuity malt, herbalized wheat scent straight from the fields and a grainy, slightly peppery hop effect. There are some interesting fruit, citrus whiff's...mostly grapefruit.
flavor: Oooh...not bad. This is a rather rich and hearty lager with a big and bold malt flavor that includes: buttery toast, fresh-out-of-the-oven stlye biscuits and caramlized wheat. The Herbal, earthy and sour yeast flavor rides right along side with a big presence. The hops add a destinctive Pale-ale or mild IPA-ish like fruity notes that adds much complexity to the overall flavor. The balance here seems really good and so is the overall effect.
Feel: Light bodied, crisp and clean just likeit should be and a nice smooth medium-bodied feel to the finish.
DA: Highly and easily drinkable with all of the qualities i like in a decent lager along with a very unique IPA-ish fruity profile.

Good lacing and head, a nice looking lager. Very grainy nose, almost macro-like and turn-off for me. There's a fuller pale malt flavor with a kiss of spicy hops. A tasty lager and the aroma improves as the beer warms. This German lager is a welcome brew.

The beer pours a beautiful golden color with a thick frothy white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a nice pale malt scent along with a dry lager yeast aroma. It has a bit of fruitiness to it as well as some light hops in the background. The taste is decent. It has a very simple pale malt and lager yeast flavor. There isn't really anything else going on here. It goes down easy and finishes a bit dry with a slight fruitiness in the swallow. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a good drinking lager beer, despite it not being very interesting.

Sunday River Lager pours a just-slightly-hazy golden body with yellow highlights beneath a frothy head of bright white. The retention is quite good, and it leaves thin rings of craggy lace around the glass. A bright combination of sweetish malt and floral hops greets you in the nose. The flavor reveals a grainy malt (that's not quite as sweet as the aroma suggests) infused with floral and mildly grassy hops, and backed by a solid bitterness. It's well-balanced with sweetness up front, hop flavors across the middle, and a lingering dry bitterness in the finish. It's light bodied and moderately crisp in the mouth, adding to its refreshing character. Overall, a very decent lager.

A very nice golden honey color, but the head, one finger, is a little small. This has a wheat smell, almost a little fishy. This has a lemony and wheat flavor thats very good.A real good summer beer.I can see having grilled fish or poultry with this.A good offering by Sunday River,I would like to try their other beers.
