The Wheatlander is a solid Hefeweizen which has all the makings of a typical Hefe. The appearance is typical hazy yellow color with thin white head that laced. The smells included banana, clove and hints of citrus. The taste mirrored the smell....banana clove and spice with a little lemon zest. Mouthfeel was good...if you like hefeweizen. Overalll...decent.

I gave this a try as it was my first trip to Limestone Brewing Company.

Served to me on tap at a dinning table. Color was very cloudy and have a rich golden color to it. Not too much of a head by the time the beer got to me but there was still a nice layer of lacing on it. Coriander, wheat, and citrus zest were noticable in it's scent. The wheat was very raw and almost organic tasting. The texture was quite smooth and that raw/organic taste really made the wheat taste pop in your mouth. Had a decent volume to it and certainly had a very interesting taste for a Hefeweizen. I had a little bit of a hard time putting down my 22oz glass due to the heavy wheat taste. Not my favorite Hefeweizen, but I'm sure other will enjoy it very much.

Poured from a growler into a hefe glass.

Pours a cloudy, orange/golden color with a huge, three finger head that is slow to drop. Tons of lacing on the way down.

Aromas of bananas, wheat, spicy clove-like phenolics, no hop aroma. Classic hefe aroma. Very close to classic german style.

First sip is crisp, with banana and clove, wheat, no hop flavor to speak of. Lemony. There is a spicy, phenolic undertone, not clove, but with more heat, hard to describe. Not unpleasant or harsh. A little diacytl note, which is inappropriate, but not dominate. Finish is short, with wheat banana and phenols that fade into a clean refreshing mouthfeel.

Mouthfeel is rounded, thirst-quenching, smooth. No sharp corners, or alcohol warmth. A little buttery slickness after about a full glass of beer. Carbonation is dead on, soft.

Highly drinkable beer. Would be nice to spend an afternoon at a sidewalk table at the brewery drinking glass after glass of this fine brew. Sans fruit, though.

My Limestone experience continues... This offering pours a hazy sallow topped by a finger of white micro-foam. The nose comprises coriander, wheat, lemon zest, cardamom, and a touch of clove. The taste brings more of the same, though the cardamom is dropped out almost completely and the clove is lightened a bit. The body is pretty light, with a light carbonation and a slightly watery feel. Overall, I considered this one more of a wit than a hefe, but it's pretty tasty and excessively drinkable regardless.

Pours a hazy, straw color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of wheat, sweet malt, slight yeast, clove, and banana/orange. Fits the style of a Hefeweizen. Mouth feel is slightly smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. There is a refreshing quality to the feel. Tastes of wheat, sweet malt, slight yeast, slight citrus, and slight spice. Overall, decent blend, good appearance, and decent aroma.

I had this beer on tap at the brew pub where it is made. It is their first and only beer available at the moment, but they will be adding 9 more beers to their menu as they become ready for drinking, giving them a total of 10 home-made craft brews altogether.

This hefe-weizen comes to the table in a tall, elegant, 14oz weizen glass that shows off its cloudy apricot color and two-finger fluffy white head to a tee. The head retention on this beer is incredible and the lacing pattern that it leaves on the glass is even more incredible.

The nose is typical for the style - a heavy wheat presence followed by a nice fragrance of banana and clove.

The taste follows the smell. It's a blend of wheat maltiness and clove spiciness, but lacking any greater complexity that would put it over the top. It's good, but I would have preferred more to it. A little more sweetness perhaps. It's kind of bland, although I did like the touch of hop spiciness in the finish.

The mouthfeel is what makes this a little different from other hefe-weizens I have tried. There is virtually no carbonation in here which gives it a more smooth and creamy texture, but that also takes away some of its light refreshing quality. It turns this into a more medium bodied brew, which I wouldn't mind if it packed a more flavorful punch, but it's just missing something for me to rank it higher in taste and mouthfeel.

I forgot to ask about the abv in here, but whatever it is, you can't taste much alcohol, so it becomes real easy to pound down a few of these. I liked it, but not ready to put it at the top of my list for best hefe-weizens yet.
