Served in a shaker pint glass at the brewpub.
Nothing like having a newly-released beer at a quality brewpub, eh? This one pours a clear sunset amber-brown topped by a finger-and-a-half of light tan foam. The nose comprises toffee, cocoa powder, dark greens, light orange zest, and candi sugar. The taste holds notes of dark chocolate, toffee, mandarin orange, buttery biscuits, and light vanilla bean. The body is a solid medium, with a moderate carbonation and a fairly smooth feel. Overall, a very nice d-bock. A bit too effervescent for me, but damn solid everywhere else. The cocoa nib addition seems to have worked out very well, indeed.
