"BATCH #2551 BIG PAPIO" Nice belgian with good mouthfeel for as light as it drinks; a subdued, gentle fruity/plummy/malty flavor and the barest waft of yeastiness in the clean, quick-fading finish. Very smooth for a 7.7%er.

Lucky Bucket Brewing Co. "Papio Belgian Abbey Ale"
$7 / pint on tap @ Wine, Beer, and Spirits, Omaha, NE
Look: A hazy brown body is capped by a short head of creamy khaki colored foam that dissipates shortly.
Smell: Fruity with fallen apple and dark fruit, phenolic with some delicate spiciness and mild plastic, and malty with some caramel and dark sugar.
Taste: As the aroma suggests with some additional breadiness, cake, raisin, plum, and sweet red berry. It's malty, a little sugary, fruity, subtly herbal, and just lightly alcoholic. The alcohol works with a modest bitterness of around 20 IBUs to keep it in check, and although it finishes with some residual sugar this is a sipping beer so that works just fine.
Feel: Full-medium in body and gently crisp and then smooth across the palate.
Overall: A very good representation of a dark Abbey ale.
