Notes / Commercial Description:
"Mecklenburger" Bavarian Lager. Just like a Frankfurter comes from Frankfurt, a Wiener come from Wien (Vienna), and a Bitburger comes from Bitburg, Mecklenburger comes from Mecklenburg...Olde Mecklenburg that is...fresh from our lager tanks. This Helles-style golden/straw blonde lagerbier is super smooth, slightly malty and easy to drink. The perfect finish after a round of golf, day on the boat, or just out mowing the lawn. Cool down the scorching summer heat with Mecklenburger.

12 oz bottle, bottled 7/11/18 (enjoy fresh), poured into a pint glass. A clear gold with active carbonation with a finger of fluffy white head. Excellent retention on the side of the glass, moves slowly to a ring of lace by the end of the glass. Smell is floral hops, bread, and yeast notes. The taste is right in line, with a mild malt balance. The bread/grain notes and floral hop notes both hit on the finish and linger. The mouthfeel is medium high, with enough carbonation to keep it refreshing, but also has moments of smoothness. Another great lager for summer, especially useful to balance IPA palate burnout.

Pours a slightly cloudy straw yellow with minimal head, resolving to thin, persistent, lacing.
Smell is sweet and grassy with a hint of fruit.
Taste is smooth and balanced mix of light grains, faint spice and lemon.
Fresh, clean and crisp. Very nice.

On tap at the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery tap room. Poured into an Olde Meck pint. Pours a very clear light golden color with a thick yellowish white head and tons of lacing. Smells of fresh malts, light hay or straw, and a little sweetness. Tastes very light, and has a pretty nice sweetness from a ton of malting, only the faintest hint of hops and somewhat of floral taste. Mouthfeel is great (like all Olde Meck beers) and drinkability is great as well.

Just got back from the brewery with all three flavors. Came home and cracked the Mecklenburger first, then Copper, then Dunkel.

Pours perfect gold with soft white head. Smells of candied straw, palettes light and easy, finishes clean and crisp as expected. As far as golden lagers, this is top notch.

This profile reads 5.4% abv, it is actually 4.8% abv.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light yellow body with a head of off-white spume yielding traces of lacing. Simple but inviting.

Smell: Mild, airy nose of delicately malted barley with a sweet, grainy character to it and soft floral hop undertones.

Taste: Properly pale malted barley, lightly grainy, and with a light sweetness imparting vague suggestions of simple honey. The spicy, floral Noble hops give a balancing bitter counterpoint to the sweet malty flavors. Perhaps a kiss of lemon. Clean, crisp, semi-dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Drinkability: A keenly quaffable thirst-quencher of a beer.

This beer pours a beautiful straw color with a large head of soft white suds and nice lacing in the glass. The smell is a beautiful balance of bread/toasty malt and earthy Magnum hops, crowned by a bouquet of fresh Hallertau aroma hops. The taste mirrors that same balance of maltiness and hoppiness. Finally, the beer's drinkability is what places it among the best examples of the style. A true test of a beer's greatness for me is in that #3 tastes better than #2, #4 better than #3. Mecklenburger follows in that tradition. Prost!

On tap @ the OMB on 5/29/10. Served in an oversized mug.

Pours a crystal clear gold, topped with a finger of bright-white smooth froth. This retains with a rich ½ finger that throws a creamy cascade of foamy lacing all up on the sides of the mug. The aroma smells of buttered toast, with some softer fruity textures, floral hops, and spice all helping fill up the nose with flavor. This has a pleasant airy quality to it that wafts up into the nostrils quite nicely.

The taste has a nice fresh bite of earthy and spicy Noble hop character to it, which prickles the mouth up front before the sweet bready tones from the malt and some citric fruit gives this a silky smooth feel and balance across the back of the palate. This finishes bone dry, with just a lingering touch of fruit and earth staying behind. For the most part though, the flavor profile is well balanced, crisp, and clean in the mouth. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, maybe a bit lighter, with a moderate amount of crisp sharpness to the carbonation but man, this is just so creamy, smooth, and easy feeling in the mouth. This is just the definition of a great session beer here.

Wow, the OMB really came through with this summer offering. This is probably the best American Helles Lager that I've ever had, with well balanced flavors and a crisp, yet still very smooth and easy, body on it. And at 4.9% ABV, this is right were you need the alcohol to be for this staying VERY quaffable. This one scores the rare 5 on drinkibility from me, as I killed this 20 oz mug in no time and was still ready for more. Great stuff!

Stopped by the brewery and picked up a growler of Olde Mecklenburgs Summer Seasonal. Poured from a growler into a pint glass.

Pours a crystal clear straw color with three to four fingers worth of head. Good head retention that recedes into lots of sticky lacing.

The nose is filled with bready malts. Not very complex, but very clean and inviting. There is a slight fruity scent that develops as the beer warms.

Like the nose, the taste is of bready malts. Very clean and crisp. Slightly sweet and just a hint of grassy hops. Refreshing and easy to drink, medium/light bodied and well carbinated with a dry finish. Really, a perfect summer beer, quite easy to drink. I can definately see myself grabbing a few of these after mowing the lawn on a hot summer day...

Another good effort by OMB
