Served as a virtually black colored beer with moderate tannish head.
Smell is significant for bitter chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt.
Taste also demonstrates the roasted malt and coffee with a touch of underlying bitterness.
The dryness increases a bit at the finish to present with a nice ending for the beer.
A by-the-book stout.

Served on cask in a pint glass.
A: Black color, opaque, with a slight amount of light brown head.
S: caramel, coffee, mixed with a slight fruity/berry ester aroma
T: rich, coffee, chocolate, a little bit of caramel; esters noted in the middle, with a slight sweet fruity flavor (difficult to discern a more specific type of fruit but a similar flavor to other English ales). Little to no roastiness detectable.
M: very light carbonation from the cask; served around 55 deg which brought out the flavors well. Thick, chewy, viscous.
D: An excellent beer all around but a difficult style to consume in large quantities.
