Another really nice brew from Johanssons. It compares favorably to Columbus IPA. Doesn't smack you in the face with bitterness. A straightforward citrus rush with some pine needle and light biscuity malt. Pleasingly solid.

Great weekend in Maryland, went to visit a buddy for the weekend, and we stopped at Johanssons's for a few beers while waiting to pick up some crabs and pit beef sandwiches...let's just say it was a good weekend.

On tap - pint glass

A - Golden/Orange color, hazy, and an excellent two finger frothy top!

S - Hoppy aroma of citrus and pine

T - Very nice flavor, citrus is up front on the tongue (orange) and a nice little hop bite in the back. Good dry finish, crisp and refreshing

M - Carbonation was light, average mouthfeel

O - This makes a good session beer, crisp dry fruity flavor is what has taken me down the IPA path. Really enjoyed it, definitely will go back next time I have a chance to visit Westminster.

A: poured a gold orange into a american shaker with a thin skim of white head that stayed for about half the beer and left spotted lacing.

S: dark citrus notes and a good dose of sweet and bread like malt.

T: same dark citrus and blood orange up front with a little caramel malt coming through. A nice lemongrass comes in at the end and an over all pine and lemon hangs for a while.

MF: light body and astringent, kinda watered down feel despite the nice flavor.

D: a good IPA at a close by brewpub, I will defiantly be having quite a few of these in my life time.

Wow. Where have you been all my life? I heard someone say recently (about politics) that "the overarching principle should be restraint, rather than exuberance." I believe the same could be said for use of hops in beer; and yet this IPA is the perfect choice for beer lovers who enjoy fresh hops flavor without the overpowering hops "bite." Made on premises (gotta love fresh beer) this comes to the table a hazy orange/gold with a soft foamy head that laced the glass in stripes all the way down. Initial taste of nicely balanced fruity hops (citrusy, just a touch of bitterness) and a mellow malt sweetness (unique for an IPA) that fills your mouth with flavor. The lip-smacking hops tinge at the end and the residual sweetness render this one of the most drinkable beers I've ever had. I loved it. I tried all of their house-brewed beers last night... and this is the one I still think about... the one I'm longing to go back for more.

A: Pours a golden-orange color with cloudiness with a decent white head

S: nice smell of hops and fruits

T: Smooth citrus and hoppy flavor initially with a dry bitter finish

M: Light for an IPA, not too carbonated

D: easy to drink more than one, the bitter finish makes you want to drink more

My second beer at Johanssons was this excellent IPA which was being put "on" just as I arrived. A lightly cloudy, golden IPA infused with Cascade hops. Huge hop flavor and beaufiful mouthfeel highlighted this golden elixir. Not exactly sure of this brews IBU's or abv., but tastewise, this could fall more along the characteristics of an Imperial! Hop Heads Unite! A very nicely done IPA!

Served as a slightly hazy golden colored beer with modest white puffy head.
Smell contains nice notes of grassy and citrusy hops, but very restrained.
Taste comibines the malt and hops nicely, But the flavor is a bit too light.
The hops show themselves a bit more at the finish, but the flovor and mouthfeel is still very much restrained.
A nice enough beer, but nothing great.

Served on draught in a pint glass.

A: pours light orange/amber with a little head, rings as it drains. A little murky in opacity.

S: first impression is cascade hops. A very nice grapefruit aroma.

T: First taste is the grapefruity-bitter hop flavor, followed by a slight amount of caramel. Ends with a dry, somewhat mouth-watering bitterness.

M: Lightly carbonated, feels like a pale ale with the taste of an IPA...not as heavy as some IPAs.

D: Very pleasant and drinkable beer. Good job.
