A: black with some highlights of deep burnt reds when held to the light. An off white head leaves a moderate amount of lacing. Poured into an american style pint glass.
S: heavy roasted malts and a nutty profile right off the bat. The sweetness of the malt comes out and the hops are mild.
T: the hops are a little more noticeable and equal out the malt extremely well. The malt gives a nice roasted smokey flavor while the hops presents a more grass like note. The nut flavor is still there and is a lot like roasted walnuts.
MF: thick and full of flavor, each character or this beer transfers abruptly but not too abrasivly. The overall profile of the beer makes me think of winter without this being a winter warmer beer. The last thing present on the tongue is the soft bitterness that lingers, its a nice addition to a dark brew I welcome.
D: a local bar with great atmosphere adds to the drink ability of this beer, also the ability to pick up a growler on the way home from work. However this is a beer I would (if needed) go out of my way for.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
