On tap @ the Blind Lady on 3/17/10 during their "Black Tuesday" St. Patrick's Day celebration. Served in a snifter.

Pours black in the glass, being topped with about a 1/2 finger of frothy light mocha head. This stays very rich around the edges, leaving some heavy spotty lacing down the sides of the glass. Very nice rich look to this. The aroma is chocolatey, roasty, and fruity, with a touch of herbal hop dankness along the back. I'm also picking up a moderate oat presence that keeps this flowing nice and easy in the nose.

The taste is fairly smooth in the mouth, with a mix of roasted chocolate malt and silky oatmeal character. Background tones of earthy fruit and then some fairly assertive hop character leaves a good it of spicy dryness behind, which lingers with some leftover roast in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with an extremely easy and silky feel in the mouth, just like a good Oatmeal Stout should. Pretty spot on.

This was good. I wish that the flavors had popped a little more (especially when everything else about this was so good) but in a day full of dark beers, this held it's own.
