Draft at brewery. 3 out of 4 ain't bad. Normal pour, aroma hints at roast malts. Taste goes south with some musty, funky , sour, cooked vegetables flavors. left with an unpleasant bitterness. Miss.

poured a muddy brown, somewhat soapy yet cream head. As soon as it was set upon the table I could smell it. Butter. This was a huge butter bomb. Couldn't get by 2 sips. The server didn't know what to make of my pointing this out, as it's their best seller she said. Perhaps, but this was bad. Some other beers were decent, and the food was great.

I'm not a fan of dunkel beers and this one didn't change my mind. Compared to other dunkels I've tasted this one was sweeter than most. I would try their Marzen instead.

Tasted of vinegar. Exchanged it for another glass pull from the keg in the basement bar. It was marginally better -- still way too much taste of vinegar. Exchanged that one for a Marzen which was fine.

Over the years the beers here have been fine but never what I would call exceptional. Something has gone wrong with the dunkels.

Enjoyed this brew at Ellicott Mills Brewing Co.

A: Pours a dark brown hue with a small white head that quickly dissipates into a wispy lace.

S: Sweet malty and caramel aroma.

T: Dark rich ale with a generous sweetness with toasted malt caramel background.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Excellent dunkel – sweet, smooth, and an easy drinker.

A - Dark with a fair head after an agressive pour.

S - Sweet malty aroma with a hint of citrusy sourness.

T - Thick malty taste but maybe a little light for a Dunkel

M - Smooth and easy on the mouth.

D - Easy to drink. Maybe not their best beer but I finished a growler by myself and enjoyed every bit!

The beer poured a deep amber, relatively clear with a slight head and low carbonation.

The nose had light malts with some nice sweet citrus on the nose. This translated well to the taste as there was nice malt with an acidic touch on the from tongue while there was a slight smoke finish with just a hint of sausage. Gotta admit I didn't pick that up on the nose.

This beer has good mouthfeel as is just a tad nit light for the style, making this a very easy beer to enjoy. I did however, get some cloying towards the end of my pint, but all and all a tasty.

Appearance- Somewhat cloudy, but dark enough for the style. Thin, light brown head.
Smell- Slight odor of something sour.
Taste- Sweet, malty, but still not overpowering.
Mouthfeel-Thin for the style.
Drinkability-Fine, but didn't really hold up against the food like it should.

Poured from the tap to a glass mug at the pub. The liquid is a medium grey brown, carbonation is ok. The head was almost 2 fingers but faded fast, no lace.

The smell was sweet, fruity, slight caramel.

The taste was ok but did not get better. A sweet lemon like after taste built as I drank.

The mouthfeel was ok nice body.

The drinkability could be better. Not a beer I would have again. MK

Not the best offering from this great location.

I picked up a growler from there today - the shelflife on these is rather short, but I can handle that ;) It pours a very dark brown, with little head unless you pour very vigorously. I had to pour straight down to get about a quarter inch head.

The smell was nice. They are definitely going for a caramel nose and taste, which was noticeable. Unfortunately, the taste is too acidic. This obviously affects the drinkability.

Served as a deep amber beer with slightly off-white modest head. Smell is a very nice mixture of toasted malt and caramel. Taste follows the smell with the caramel mixed with the toasted malt presenting a nice combination. Finishes sweet and refreshing. An enjoyable beer, but nothing outstanding.
