Thanks Leon for sharing this 1-liter growler. Poured into a snifter, the brew appears a clear copper color with a finger of silky off-white almost yellowish stained head. The cap fades leaving patches of lace sticking to the glass.
The aroma is wild with a lemony fruit sorta character that leans towards smelling earthen and almost like orange zest. There is a suggestions of herbal hops and mild floral appeal. As it warms up, it almost has a medicinal sorta smell.
The flavor is lemony tart with a faint acedic edge that stirs up some mineral flavors. The finish is a bit dusty and almost feels like stale grain and in a weird way thats faintly like biscuits but also just different and mildly off. At times, this sorts has a cidery feel but its not full tilt.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Overall this brew is interesting. They certainly nailed the sour they were going for but im not totally digging it. It sorta goes off in different conflicting directions with the lactic quality blending to acedic/cidery and then the fruity and dusty/stale grain character is somewhat off-putting. Ive been wanting to try something by these guys for awhile and admittedly im let down by this. But honestly, hats off to them for attempting sours already. I'll need to try some of their other offerings.
