Shawneecraft Rose, Barell aged american wild ale at 6.0% ABV.
Served into a Troeg's tulip snifter at 39F.
Nice reddish, copper rose color..
Very minimal carbonation. Some yeast sediment in the bottom of the bottle so i didnt want to rile that up in favor of more carbonation. Obvously a bottle conditioned sour ale.
This drinks like a wine made with ale yeast.
Not much malt presence, slighty sweet too.
The oak from the barrel imparts a lot of flavor on this ale. While its not the most dominant in the flavor profile, the barrel aging is quite omnipresent. The bugs in the yeast are also present so your sour notes are very well balanced between the wood soak antiquery and sour patch kid taste profile.
Overall a very solid effort from the Shawneecraft barrel program.
I just wish they would bottle date their products because I have absolutely no idea when this launched or for how long I should be bottle conditioning it. With the extremely poor second tier distribution channel that we have in the Poconos region, this wild ale may have lauched 6 months ago, but I would have no way of knowing because there is no bottled on date anywhere on the packaging.
