I had at d.b.a. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn out of a gravity dispense cask. It's black with a hint of brown around the edges and some chocolate scent to it.

It's a very sour porter, very strong, even though it's listed as 6.5 abv, it tastes a lot higher. Full bodied. Tastes almost like a port wine.

I have to say i honestly love this beer. I will have a nitro porter over a guiness any day. Having this beer poured from a nitrogen draft is the the start. Watching the beer settle is a show in of its self. The head of the beer is velvety and smoothe. this is a very dark beer that goes down real easy not filling you up. There are notes and taste of chocolate, coffe and caramel. It finishes with just the right amount of bitterness to make it a well rounded beer.

This beer presented from a nitrogen tap with a pleasant dark chestnut or walnut opaque color. The head form approximately half an inch of creamy, tiny bubbles. The porter smelled as you would expect from a good porter; full of roasted chocolate and coffee notes without much hop presence. The taste mirrored the smell. I would highly recommend this porter as a fine example of the style. I now want to have one with a fine steak.

Highly recommended.

On tap in the upper level of The Gem & Keystone. Served in a frozen (BOO!) Shawnee tumbler. Allowed to thaw for about half an hour. The porter appears a translucent deep chestnut color with about an inch of pillow-y light ecru colored foam. Nose and flavors consist of a nice amount of roasted grains, some milk and bittersweet chocolate, dark cherries, black currants, subtly sweet as it warms. Lightly carbonated and a bit thin bodied, but also somewhat creamy mostly due to the nitro pour I suppose. Pretty nice.

A-Deep, clear brown with a thin tan head that held on and left spotty lace.

S-Good roasted malt base and a touch of bitter chocolate. Nothing extreme here but a nice solid malt based brew.

T-Rich, roasted malts with plenty of chocolate, earthy hop bite and a touch of coffee. Nice drying finish and a twang of sour cherry in the background.

M-Medium bodied, smooth with good lingering flavours and bitterness.

D-Good stuff, Simple and solid. The kind of porter you can sit back and drink pint after pint. Accessible and
easy to drink. Goes down without a fight!
